This charming center hall farmhouse, with its distinctive red metal roof and exceptionally well-preserved architectural details, was originally the quiet, historic hamlet of Linlithgo’s local Post Office. Linlithgo was established in the late 18th century just down the road from the iconic Livingston estate and grounds, Teviotdale. In the 1800s, the village largely became home to workers employed by the Iron Mountain mine and the nearby Hudson River railroad depot. By the time the Post Office was built, the town had slowly become a blend of remaining mining families and gentlemen farmers. Today, the expansive and light-filled home has been appropriately modernized without losing its abundance of character. The original doors, hardware, and wide-plank hardwood floors have been carefully restored. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and an additional room downstairs with an en-suite full bathroom and its own entrance, currently used as a media room. There are two full bathrooms upstairs, one en-suite to the primary bedroom, and a powder on the ground floor. The second-floor laundry room has wood paneling, built-in drying racks, and shelving.
